The internet has almost replaced the phone-book. The only time I use a phone-book is when power is temporarily down. Power and the Internet = Connectivity to the World. Connect with people, companies, groups, organizations, etc. all over the world using social media as a leverages tool.

Kids today live on facebook and other similiar social media sites and cannot imagine life without it. Your existing main-stream website needs to integrate into this growing world to stay current with the connectivity trends. Your Marketing Team or IT Team should invest their time into creating and maintaining a company social media site and connect them into their main-stream website. Minimal blogging sites such as facebook and twitter are good places to start, Myspace can help, especially within the music industry. More frequent and large media posts should use a WordPress or related blog system that can be tied into your existing website or made into a main-stream website with posts automatically going into Twitter and facebook. Use a professional service, such as Wolf Web Works to assist in setting up these key social media sites and integrating them into your main site.

Remember, with your blogs and social media presence comes responsibility, you’ll need to add content regularly, so you should allocate at least 2 plus hours a week for this important new marketing presence.

Use the same strategy for all the social network sites you use. Allocate time each week in your plan to update your sites and remember it’s about engaging your community, integrating your site content and existing services and not just about promoting your latest product or service.
